1. Tell us your name. Any nicknames? I’m Donna Yarborough – no real nicknames but, my daughter calls me a French poodle, my husband calls me puddin’ pie, and to tell the truth the band has some crazy moments from time to time and they get off on some name calling like… Donicka, The Don, P.D. (for Pastor Donna), and oh, now I’m Ginger from Gilligan’s Island. Go figure! ( But, not that new Gilligan's Island and in "reality" I'm nothing like any Gilligan's Ginger). But, let me just tell you that I’ve looked at their bios and they’ve been holding out on you. Ginger wasn’t the only one stranded on that island. Was she?
2. Are you married? To whom? I am extremely happily married to the most wonderful, talented, funny, spicy, loving, anointed, greatest man of God and pastor in the world, Roland Yarborough. He also writes music, plays keyboards, and sings with IFC from time to time. Log on to LifePoint Ministries.com and you can experience his passion for God. One of my favorite messages recently was Sunday, November14th on “How to Be a Real Man” (Funny illustrated message – not for men only).
3. Do you have children? How many? I must brag on the blessings of God again. I believe I have two of the greatest kids in the world, Jeremy and Kristin.
4. When is your birthday? June 16th – Happy birthday to me
5. How long have you been playing/singing? When I was about four or five I used to make up my own songs and sing for hours in my backyard on my swing set. Thank God no one was ever around. I’m pretty sure it was pretty scary. Hey, maybe that’s why no one was ever around. Come to think of it I don’t remember any birds or squirrels either. but, there was this praying mantis once. Well, anyway I sang my first solo in my church where I grew up when I was eight. I used to play piano and I played around on the drums and percussion.
6. How did you come to be part of IFC? God told us years ago that he would bring the instruments we needed to reap the harvest. God put us together and we are so excited he did. Most of us in IFC started ministering together in 1996 when God called us to play for the worship services at LifePoint Ministries. We’ve been together ever since and are loving what God’s doing with us and His music.
7. What is your favorite scripture? Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21. 2 Timothy 3:16 & 17 says “All scripture is God breathed…”. All of it is from God so all of it is awesome! Here are a few I’d like to share with you today: John 3:16/ Romans 10: 9&10/ Psalm 19:14 / 1 Corinthians 15:58 / 1 John 5:3 & 4/ Gal. 6:9/ Ephesians 3:20,21/ 2 Peter 1:3-11/ and all the rest!
8. How did you come to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior? What a power packed question. As I mentioned before I was raised in church, but in my teen years I got hooked up with the wrong guy. I stopped going to church. My life was a down hill spiral from there. At a time when all I wanted for my life was for it to be over, I literally found the Lord of the ring. You can log on to lifepointministries.com to hear part of my testimony. I was the guest speaker Oct.10, ’04. The message was “Making Dreams Come True”.
9. Any Hobbies? I love hanging out with my husband and children, the band, and our church family. When we have time (Ha! Ha!) we love golf, snow skiing, snorkeling, even fishing together, and we love to travel and see all God’s beautiful creations, and I love interior decorating. But, more than anything I love to worship God!
10. What is your favorite food when Donna is around? Hey, what’s up with these next two questions? I want my manager! Where’s my manager? Has Wess seen this? Well, if I have to answer this question I will. But, don’t tell the band. O.K.? I love food…food…I love food! All kinds of food…all nationalities of food. I love to start my meals with something sweet. I love to end my meals with something sweet. I love something salty, and crunchy, and sweet in the middle of my meals. But, alas there is this thing called self control. (The last fruit of the Spirit – Gal. 5:22 & 23) which really brings me to the next question.
11. What is your favorite food when Donna is not around? Let me ask you this question: How far can you go to get away from yourself? Since, I am obviously always around myself…the answer is still food…all kinds of delicious food…did I mention food? I also feel like I would be less than honest if I didn’t mention the “C” word, chocolate, mmmmm. But the Bible says to take care of our bodies. They are the temples of the Holy Spirit. So I do encourage the band to eat right. Pick up a copy of The Maker’s Diet by Jordan Rubin. It can change your life.
12. Miscellaneous info- There is so much I’d love to share with you. It’s all good! Hope to see you in your city soon. If you’re ever in the Atlanta area – come see us at LifePoint Ministries! We always have a Praise Party and you’re invited!
